What does Antropy mean?
"Antropy" is the name that Paul came up with in 2008 to mean the opposite of "entropy".
In physics (specifically thermodynamics), entropy is the fundamental property of the Universe that means any closed system tends to get more disordered - more messy - as time goes on. It's the reason your house never tidies itself.
In computer programming, "software entropy" is a similar phenomenon where over time a system, project, website, codebase, etc. can get messier and messier until it becomes very difficult to work on, buggy, and slow. It's often the reason that an old computer slows down and needs to be wiped and reinstalled.
So, Paul founded Antropy as company that writes very simple and efficient code, and works on complex systems in ways that make them cleaner and tidier rather than messier, to keep them running incredibly fast and efficiently.
Our Core Values at Antropy
- Simplicity
We keep everything as simple and minimal as we possibly can, from the code we write to the emails we send and the business processes and working practices we follow. - Automation
We try to automate everything that can possibly be automated because this is a fundamental requirement of a scaleable business. We automate our own processes and we automate our clients' processes. Everything that can possibly be done by a computer must be done by a computer to avoid inaccurate manual work, wasted time, wasted costs, and un-scaleable processes. - Speed
One of the most important metrics of our code is how fast it runs. Every part of your website should be simple, streamlined, and optimised so that it feels lightning fast. Good code is simple code and simple code is very often the fastest code. The same applies to all aspects of everything we do. A website should be so simple and well-designed that it should be very fast for the customer to make a purchase. Of course it also applies to our agility and ability to get things done incredibly quickly.
- Honesty and Openness
We tell it like it is. If we've made a mistake, we'll tell you. If there's a problem with your website that you're not going to be happy to hear about, sorry but we're going to tell you anyway because we believe that confronting the facts head-on and as soon as possible is the best way to address any problem. It won't always be rainbows and unicorns but it will be the fastest path to your goals. - Hard Work
Probably the most important factor in any human endeavour is the discipline and ability to work hard, to keep going when the going gets tough and to keep pushing through the obstacles no matter how unpleasant they may be. That is how you become a top athelete and that is what our employees are in their area of the business. They're either at the top of the game and looking to set new records, or on their way to the top.
Our Mission Statment
"To automate as much as possible as simply as possible to create a world where humans have more fun!"
